Southwest Memorial Hospital is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a nine member Board of Directors elected by the community at the Southwest Health System (SHS) annual meeting each June. Board members are elected for three-year terms. Current Board of Directors the Executive Assistant for the SHS and the MCHD boards is Jan Saunders.
The SHS Board of Directors meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday of the month, and the public is invited to the open portion of the meeting.
The Board of Directors contracts with Quorum Health Resources for daily management of the organization and together appoint an onsite CEO and CFO who work at the pleasure of and are accountable to, the Board of Directors.
Each fall the Board of Directors, Medical Staff Leadership, and senior management use a strategic planning process to re-evaluate key results and identify major strategic iniatives for the coming fiscal year (January-December) and beyond.
Southwest Memorial Hospital and its subsidiaries are fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations. The most recent survey held in March 2003 resulted in a score of 96.
