Admitting

Inpatient and Same Day Surgery patients should pre-register at the Inpatient Admitting office to the left of the main desk near the front entrance of the hospital. Outpatients arriving for tests should report to the Outpatient Registration desk. To reach the Outpatient Registration desk, enter through the front entrance of the hospital and take the first hall to the left. The desk is located to the immediate right.

What to Bring

• The signed doctor’s order for your test
• All medical insurance cards
• Your parent or guardian if under the age of 18

All patients who require outpatient procedures, lab work, x-rays or therapy must have a written order from their physician to present at the time of service. This order must state the medical reason for which the test or procedure is being done. Without this, the hospital will not be able to provide the service. You will be given a form to take back to your physician, requesting the necessary information so the test or procedure may be completed.

We understand this will present a hardship for you, but it is important that we know what the test or procedure is for (the diagnosis). Medically, we need the information so we can conduct the procedures properly. Financially, the information is necessary so your insurance will pay for the test or procedure.

Please remind your physician to give you a properly written order before leaving the office and remember to bring it with you at the time of service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to see my insurance card every time?

Yes. Your insurance card contains helpful information for our Billing Office. When we have accurate information from your card, it helps us process the bill and helps to avoid any delay in payment. It also insures that you are not billed for a balance your insurance should pay.

Why do I have to sign papers and answer the same questions every time?

We need to verify your information each time to guarantee we have accurate information. Your insurance or address may have changed and we could use the past history, which is stored in our computer system, but your information would never get updated if we did that. We also need to obtain your signature for necessary consents.

Why should I have to come in and register prior to my surgery? Can’t I just come in the day of my surgery and be registered?

Most insurance plans require a "pre-certification" or "pre-authorization" for services performed at the hospital. There may be tests the doctor has ordered that must be done prior to the date of service. Pre-registering also helps speed the process when you arrive as it gives us the opportunity to have everything ready and waiting for you at the appropriate Nursing Unit
