Ambulance

Southwest Memorial Hospital is proud to provide your community with highly qualified medical personnel. The Emergency Medical personnel have extensive education as well as hands on experience to care for your emergent needs.

EMS in the past was a "load and go" means of patient care but as technology has changed so has our care to you. The scope of care has expanded to include rapid assessment of the emergent condition and transport with care started upon contact. We have stretched our goal to meet a 15 minute window of scene time. This will assure rapid assessment and transport for quality care.

Southwest Memorial Ambulance covers Montezuma County. The county has 9 communities, with approximately 22,000 population year around. The county terrain goes from desert to alpine mountain-tops from 5,000 ft elevation to 10,000 ft with roughly 3,600 square miles to cover.

 

Our ambulance service is an ALS (Advanced Life Support) rig. This requires our staff to be at an Intermediate level or higher. They work with expertise in pre-hospital trauma, Advanced Life support for adult and pediatric care and stabilization during transport to our facility.

Our staff is very unique in that they are able to continue with patient care in the Emergency Room. This provides continuity of care to you.

We are fortunate in our community to have people committed to EMS. These people put in many hours of service.
