Mission Statement:
"To provide
the infrastructure to facilitate secured and reliable exchange of
information between appropriate individuals, units, and their
customers using the most efficient and cost effective
methodologies available." The physical infrastructure covers
a wide stream of computer systems (from a plethora of end-user PCs
to dedicated application servers), peripherals (e.g., line
printer, ink-jet printers, laser printers, modems, CD-ROM drives,
tape drives) and network platforms (e.g., 56Kps V.90 modem pool,
100baseT LAN, wireless LAN, switches, routers, firewalls). The IS
Department works with hospital departments to assure the
confidentiality and security of patient and hospital data, while
simultaneously playing an important role in the regular efficient
data transfers to appropriate individuals or entities. Software
and hardware technical support to hospital staff is a predominant
role of the IS staff, composed of four personnel: two Computer
Technicians, Help Desk Coordinator, and the IS Director.
