Audiology
An audiologist is a
professional who specializes in evaluating and treating people with hearing
loss. This includes diagnostic audiology services, hearing aid evaluations, and
hearing aid fittings for children and adults. An audiologist has received a
masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university graduate program.
Audiologists are trained to evaluate the hearing of infants to older adults, to
evaluate special aspects of audition and balance, and to recommend and fit
hearing aids and other rehabilitative devices. Audiologists work in a variety of
clinical settings including private practice, hospitals, non-profit agencies,
physician’s offices, and schools.
