Laboratory

In our clinical laboratory, testing is performed on both patients who are admitted to the hospital and those who are referred by their doctors to diagnose and monitor for conditions and diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol, kidney and liver function, prostate health, pregnancy confirmation, and much more.  

The Southwest Memorial Hospital laboratory has a vast array of sophisticated state-of-the art equipment and is staffed by trained professionals who process samples and do testing. The laboratory also provides for the referral and transport of the highly specialized tests that cannot be done at Southwest Memorial Hospital to national reference labs. 

The clinical laboratory is staffed by trained, experienced professionals called phlebotomists, medical technologists, and microbiologists. Most personnel have degrees in chemistry, biology, or medical technology and have acquired national certification in their specialty.  

Hours of Operation/Scheduling
The laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week to care hospitalized and emergency department patients. Laboratory registration for out-patient services is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. After hours services may be available. Please call the lab for more information. 

Draw Station on Park Street
We have a location at 111 N. Park Street in Cortez where patients can have blood drawn for testing. This office is open from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  No appointment is necessary.
