Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists help
individuals achieve independence in their lives despite temporary or permanent
disabilities. They work with people of all ages, who, because of physical
development, social or emotional problems, needs specialized assistance to lead
productive and satisfying lives.
The Occupational Therapy (OT) department at Southwest Memorial Hospital serves the needs of our
community through outpatient services at 20 South Market in the Annex, inpatient
services at the hospital and through the Home Health department.
Outpatient services specialize in patients with acute extremity disorders
including a variety of traumatic orthopedic diagnoses, arthritis, and cumulative
trauma such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Outpatient OT is also an integral part of
the multidisciplinary team made up of OT/PT/St to address the needs of patients
with neurological conditions such as stroke and traumatic brain injuries.
