Jeanie Gentry (CEO)

Chief Executive Officer

The Southwest Health System (SHS) Board of Directors is pleased to announce Jeanine A. Gentry as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital. Gentry, who is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), began her new role on January 20, 2022.

For more than two decades, Gentry has served as a senior healthcare executive focused on operational excellence in rural communities. Most recently, she served as CEO for Steele Memorial Medical Center, Salmon, Idaho, from April 2016 through Fall 2021. Gentry led all operations of the 18-bed county-owned Critical Access Hospital (CAH), named a “Top 20 CAH” for three consecutive years. Some of her accomplishments during her tenure include: implementation of an Urgent Care Clinic, redesign of hospital call coverage to a hospitalist model, Rural Health Clinic renovation, and the recruitment of primary and specialty care providers. She has also been listed multiple times by Becker’s Hospital Review as a “CAH CEO to Know.”

She has 20-year-old triplets, Elizabeth, Daniel and David, and enjoys activities including fly-fishing, playing the piano, and volunteering.

Rick Shrader (CFO)

Chief Financial Officer

Rick Shrader has over 29 years of healthcare financial management experience. Rick has primarily worked as a CFO or Revenue Cycle senior leader and has owned a healthcare consulting company specializing in financial and operations management and revenue cycle from 2009 to 2012. He has also worked for a healthcare real estate investment trust and has been in financial leadership roles for both proprietary and not-for-profit hospital organizations throughout his career.

Rick holds two undergraduate degrees from the University of Louisiana at Monroe: a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts in History. Rick and his wife, Kandice, reside in Venice, Florida with their 3 of their 5 children: Eric (22), Thomas (19) and Jeb (19). The Shrader family are sports enthusiasts and very active.

Elva Morgan 

Interim Practice Administrator

Elva Morgan currently serves as the Interim Practice Administrator for Southwest Medical Group (SMG).  She has over 35 years of direct practice management experience in group practice settings and integrated for-profit health care systems. She is the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Partner in a Dallas-based Healthcare consulting firm. Additionally, she has served as the Vice President of MSO Services for a large privately owned multi-hospital system providing strategic and operational support for a start-up 501(c)3 that employed both ambulatory and hospital-based providers. She also served as Regional Director of Physician Services for a national hospital system providing operations leadership and management.  Most recently, Mrs. Morgan has provided senior-level healthcare consulting services to hospitals and hospital-employed physician practices.

Elva and her husband Shine live in McKinney, Texas, with their teenage daughter, a sophomore in high school.  They are also parents to a grown daughter, who resides in San Antonio, and two precious fur babies.  Elva enjoys gardening, reading, watching her teenager play soccer, and recreation time at the lake.

Travis Parker (CHRO)

Chief Human Resources Officer

Travis B. Parker is currently the Chief Human Resources Officer at Southwest Health System, where he manages the Human Resources department, overseeing administration of hiring, retention, termination, personnel records, legal compliance, compensation benefits, and long term staffing strategies. His responsibilities include the development and administration of personnel rules and regulations, pay and job classification structure and programs for employee training, safety, health and morale.

Travis loves to spend time with his wife of 32 years, his two children, their spouses, and his three grandchildren. Travis and his wife also own and operate a Karate school in Cortez and love the physical as well as mental aspects of studying martial arts.

Lisa Gates (CNO)

Chief Nursing Officer

Lisa Gates is currently the Chief Nursing Officer at Southwest Health System, where she is the primary spokesperson for Southwest Health System facility’s nursing staff, who have the hefty task of coordinating all daily nursing operations.

In 2009, Lisa joined the Intensive Care Unit at Southwest Memorial Hospital. She later joined Surgical Services, served as a clinic coordinator, and eventually became the OR Director. She has been succeeding in her most recent role as the Director of Quality, Risk, and Compliance since 2019. Lisa has over 21 years of experience in nursing and supports the continued growth of staff and providers of our rural community. Lisa grew up in Southwest Colorado and has two children.

Chuck Krupa (CIO/PIO)

Chief Information Officer

Charles (Chuck) Krupa is currently the Chief Information Officer and Public Information Officer at Southwest Health System. Chuck oversees the organization’s technology and marketing teams, providing oversight of the strategic vision, operational direction, delivery of technologies, and release of information to the public. Chuck came to Southwest Health System in 2018 with over 10 years of experience, as well as a graduate certificate in Healthcare Information Technology Management and a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.

Since joining the team, he has rounded out his education by completing his Master’s in Business Administration from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Chucks wife and 2 boys enjoy the great outdoors, community involvement and all that the Montezuma County and 4 Corners region has to offer.

Southwest Health System, Inc. has a relationship agreement with Community Hospital Consulting. CHC provides operational oversight of SHS through the Senior Leadership Team. The Senior Leadership Team has direct reporting responsibility to the SHS Board of Directors.
