Southwest Walk-In Care is here to address the community’s non-emergent health concerns. Physicians and staff provide services on a “walk-in” basis. No appointment is necessary.


Immediate and Early Care for:

  • Minor Allergic Reactions
  • Colds, Cough, Flu, Mild Fever, Sore Throat, or Bronchitis
  • Sinus or Respiratory Infection
  • Flu, RSV, or Strep Throat (Testing available.)
  • Sutures and Suture Removal
  • Ear or Eye Infections
  • Headaches
  • Rashes, Insect Bites and Infections
  • Minor Cuts, Lacerations and Burns
  • Dizziness or Suspected Concussion
  • Vomiting, Diarrhea, and Indigestion
  • Sprains, Strains and Sports Injuries
  • Burning on Urination or Urinary Tract Infection
  • Initial Workman’s Compensation Evaluations
  • Sports Physicals

Southwest Walk-In Care does not provide ongoing care for patients, but individuals may seek attention when their primary healthcare provider is unavailable. Children over the age of six months may be seen at the clinic. Patients are encouraged to bring a list of their current medications when they visit the center. Narcotics are not kept on the premises. X-Ray is not available at the Walk-In Clinic.

The clinic accepts most major insurance plans, as well as Medicare and Medicaid. Co-Pays are due at the time of service. Patients without insurance should be prepared to pay for care at the time of service, or make payment arrangements in advance with clinic staff.

Dr. Leslie Stanwix specializes in Family Medicine and is Board Certified by the American College Osteopathic Family Practice. She practices at Southwest Medical Group, Walk-In Care. She attended Kansas State University and completed medical school at Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Her philosophy is to “treat the whole person, with a respectful and caring attitude, and enable them to make an informed and constructive decision”.

Dr. Stanwix enjoys hiking, biking, camping, history, geology, and the Kansas City Royals.

Nicholas Preston, NP

Nick Preston started his career in Nursing 11 years ago and has been a Nurse Practitioner for the last 8 years. Nick completed graduate school in 2012 from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is most passionate about empowering his patients to improve their health through lifestyle modifications and/or maintaining a healthy lifestyle, closely observing patients and remaining open-minded on how best to care for each patient individually. Preston is looking forward to growing his practice and becoming more connected to the Southwest Colorado community and being a part of the Southwest Medical Group team, he has been practicing in the Four Corners area at surrounding facilities and knows our community well. Nick likes to spend his free time with his family and enjoying the outdoors.
